OUR NEW DUDE......

Now I got to admit that this isnt the picture I wanted to put up of our new American bassman - Scotty Randall. I have been sent some far more interesting shots from his previous band days - remember the days when cassette tapes were still in vogue and big hair was a pre-requisite for getting into a band. | learn all our songs. Scott especially loves the fact that we play the extended intro to John Mellancamps 'I need a lover'............he just wont shut up about how much he loves that song. |
A NEW FACE ON THE BASS ......

All the way from the U.S of A, we somehow found a guy that plays bass and might just be able to stand our bad jokes and feet odour. We welcomed him in - cooked up some shrimp on the bbq, got him drunk and convinced him that having an American accent isnt the end of the world. I also forgot to tell him I just make stuff up for the sake of updating our web site. Anyway.....join us in welcoming our latest international man of mystery into the fold - Scott Randall. I dont have a pick of Scott just yet - but you'll all meet him real soon. |

5 STRINGS OF FURY......

Our long time bassman Jim Mournian has decided to hang up the bass for a while to pursue other interests. It's hard to imagine the band without him - he's been there from the start. I'm not sure if there are feet big enough to fill those giant shoes. Jim, we are going to miss you BIG TIME! From all of us - We wish you all the best for the future.

RETURN TO WHITTLESEA ......

The Distance appeared at the 'Return to Whitlesea' benefit concert last weekend. The Whittlesea community was out in force, all pitching in any way they could to make sure the event was a success. It was a privelage to be asked to help such a great cause. Check the BLOG for more....

Our latest video clip 'Little Cowgirl' is making inroads on the CMC chart. Thanks to everyone who has been voting. We also have some great live clips that are going to appear on the web site from our Meeniyan Hall show. So make sure you check back for some of that. The Distance played a show to remember at the Meeniyan Hall last weekend. Playing two huge sets to a great crowd of locals who all came with eskies in hand and their dancing shoes on. We had a few guests join us on stage, good friend John Kendall brought his lightning fiddle and also Mitch's dad Geoff jumped up for a song - hit the BLOGS! |

MEENIYAN HALL - MARCH 21ST

The Distance are heading down to the Meeniyan Hall for a huge night of music on Saturday 21st of March. The band has long wanted to play the Meeniyan Hall, when it comes to music venues it's Victoria's best kept secret. Ticket sales have been going fantastic, and we are expecting a bumper crowd, so get in fast. $10 tickets are available from the Meeniyan newsagents, or grab them at the door if they are still available on the night. KINROSS MUSTER & UPCOMING SHOWS

TAMWORTH 2009.......

We're back! What a monster trip!! Our forays to the Tamworth Country Music Festival are just getting bigger and better each time we make the trek up there. Playing 10 shows at 6 different venues, it was non-stop rockin for 10 days straight days - just the way we like it.

A DAY ON DAZZA'S GREEN.....

The band organised it's own little fundraiser to help with our 2009 Tamworth trip - it was dubbed the inuagural 'Day on Dazza's green' . They came in droves, eskies in hand, to sit in the sun and enjoy an afternoon of country rock. Read more in the BLOG section. The band was absolutely 'floored' by the generosity and support on the day......... |

HALLAM HOTEL 15TH OCT.........

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS............

The Distance recently supported The Flood at our local haunt the Peninsula Lounge for what was one very special night of music. And if supporting the Flood wasnt cool enough - we were treated to a special appearance from KB on stage with us to play the classic CS&N song 'Long Time Gone' at the end of our set!
