I remember being in
Tamworth and watching the Steve Forde bus roll by and thinking 'wow I
wonder what it's like to roll around the country in that thing!!'.
Well now I know! 12 bunks each wth their own DVD
player. Rear lounge room with Xbox360 and giant plasma TV. The front
lounge has an even bigger Plasma TV with huge speakers lining the roof
and subwoofers in the seats. The bus has it's own fridge, microwave,
coffee machine, toilet, you name it, it's all in that bus!! The
ultimate way to travel in style and comfort. Not sure what the 20
kangaroos we hit thought of it, but who wouldn't throw themselves in
front of this thing!
I guess I gotta come right out and tell
everyone about our nearly fingerless friend Rowdy. I mean the guy goes
everywhere with us, and how do we treat him, we sever his finger off.
There was no better place on earth to cut half ya finger off than in the
middle of the desert, a million miles from a doctor. Actually I think when
we got to the nearest hospital in Quilpie they suggested just choppin the
finger off. If you weren't there the story goes that Rowdy was trying to
help lift a freakin heavy box onto the semi trailer and somehow forgot to
take his fingers away when he put it down, which was how Rowdy's and his
finger parted company for a while. The bloke must be tough as nails - all
he had to say was 'I think this is bad'. Not as in 'I THINK THIS IS
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!', but just in a calm and collected
voice 'I think this is bad'. Well yeah no joke when we saw that his finger
was only held on by a small piece of skin!! You can see a pic of Rowdy
below sporting the bandages on his middle finger. Tough as nails
ROWDY!!!!! Rowdy eats pain for breaky!! I'm sure he eats raw meat for
breaky too. Slams his balls in the fridge door just for a laugh.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Greatest Roadie in all of Oz. Actually the
greatest roadie might have just bit the loose finger off and kept workin,
but they are really hard to find so we'll stick with our Rowdy. I reckon
if Trent the truck driver became a roadie he may have taken the honours
(you had to be there to understand that I just said...).
Did I mention the dust................ok ok I won't start! One of my
fav moment on the trip was Ross pullin out the Black Crowes DVD and throwin
it on full ball on the bus sound system! That was something!
Can't stop ravin about that bus.
We met some people who had come to the rodeo just to see us play!!!! I
can't remember any names - but one of the group is pictured in the shot up
top with all us dusty ugly mugs - please drop us a line if you read this,
and thanks for coming so far to see us, we were blown away by that. Big
thanks to Gary Day and all the FEG crew - you guys are amazing and treated
us so well, fantastic crew, great blokes. Oh and I gotta make a special
mention to Mo the bus driver - who also doubled as a super drummer from
hell. Mo got up with us for a few songs mid set and showed he aint just a
bus driver - the bloke can PLAY!!!!!!!! Thanks mate - we gotta do that
again. Still tryin to get my sleep patterns around the right way - you
loose all awareness of time when you sleep in those coffin beds in the bus
- you wake up and you have no clue where you are or what time it is.
