One Hell of a Storm 27.07.06
(Supporting the Flood at Peninsula Lounge)
Thought I'd kick off a band 'Blog'
page just for the fun of it! What is a BLOG Mitch? Well if you ask me I'd
say it's a fancy way to say 'Dear Diary' on the internet or something? Can
someone look it up for me. You see the guy who runs our web site does a
great job but lacks a bit on the story telling side of things, so I asked
him real nice if I could put something on here. At first he said "no
freakin way, you guys should just stick to playing guitars", but I eventually
persuaded him. I'm not even sure if
people will read this stuff but we'll throw it on even if it's just to
amuse ourselves. That way Rob might go to our web site and then he'd see
our gig dates and remember when we are playing. Onto my
story.........................

It's no secret the admiration our
band has for 'The Flood'. Gav has been "stalkin em for years", and has since
introduced all of us to the magic of KB and co. You just know that music
flows through their vains, whether they are playing to 3 or 300 people they
tear the house down every time. It was no surprise that when we ventured
to Tamworth earlier this year that we spent most nights in the beer garden
of the Tamworth Hotel watching these guys. So when we were asked to
support them - we said 'hmmmmm well hmmmm I better check my diary I
might be washin my hair'. Well actually we said "F#$% SH#$ F#$% YEAH
NO WORRIES" and then Gav wet his pants (he is going to kill me for
writing that!!!). If you were to describe a recipe
for KB's voice it would be like this: take one set of untouched vocal chords,
drag them lightly over a cheese grater, marinate for 30 years in a bucket
of scotch whiskey, add emotion for flavour. Cook in a smokey touring van for
another 10 years and serve nightly with 20 songs and onstage banter.
Delicious! The guy is a songwriting, screamin, guitar demon rock dog from
hell.
Might make mention of the fact that Rob missed out on being in the
group shot because he was out back havin a puff - so I told him I'd do
some cut and paste and put him in the photo. Can you see him in there
- top left hand corner, he isn't smiling!! :-). (he will kill me for
writing that!!!). "Mobile mate if you can't afford it, love ya".
I reckon the smiles that we all had in that pic were still on our faces
till late the next day. If you haven't seen em live make sure you do - worth every penny. You'll
find it hard to walk away after the show and not have KB open that
merchandise suitcase of his to throw you a CD or two. Christ now this
sounds like I'm writing a review or something. It was great to finally meet the guys and have a quick yarn over a
cold beer - great band & great blokes. Hope we can do it again some
time............soon.
Thanks to all our crew who came on the night. If you want to see em again
then come to Denni Ute Muster with us in September!
