Tamworth Country Music Festival 2007
Where to start.........................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, think I might be
way too tired for this - maybe I'll write this tomorrow.
I'll leave you all with some pics from our trip. Some of us playing our
shows and some of us wandering the town. And I've got a ton more - so I'll
try to get some new ones up too. Man have I got some ripper stories to
tell everyone - but after a 14 hour drive sleep is a callin me! Stay
tuned..............

..................Back again (day later, still goin hard on the coffee!).
I tell you that last night in Tamworth when we went to watch the Flood was
a killer - going to take me a week just to get over than one! Tell you
about that later. Now where was I...........our 1st stop was an appearance
at the official opening ceremony in the park in front of thousands of
country music fans. What a way to kick off our trip! Initially we thought
that was our only engagement on the Friday, but then we were told that we
had our date wrong for our first Albert hotel gig and we had to play that
night. That was music to our ears, I guess you don't drive 16 hours for
nothing, we wanted to play! The Albert shows were amazing, both nights the
pub was full, the place was jumpin and we loved every second of it. Now I
don't actually have any pics from those two nights, but there is some on
their way, so when I get em I'll throw em up. Because of the mix up with
the Albert dates we found we now had a night off, so we decided to go see
an act that had been to watch us twice already - Wildseed. We were blown
away with these guys, just amazing stuff. So a big g'day to Di, Geoff,
Alan and Dave and we hope to catch up again sometime soon. Wish I had
taken the camera that night!
After the Albert shows our next gig was a Monday
arvo show at the Regent theatre for the Victorian showcase. We were
playing on the floor in front of the big screen at the bottom of a great
big picture theatre. It was a weird feeling to be playing with your head
on a 45 degree angle all night. Then it was off to the chiropractor to get
our necks adjusted. We went into the theatre shows with a mixture of
acoustic and rocked up numbers, well who's played a picture theatre
before? We had no clue what it was going to be like. I have some pics of
the theatre which I will throw up this week to give ya'll an idea of what
it looked like. Fav moment from theatre shows was watchin Daz get up and
drum with the Davidson Brothers - he did us proud!!! Nice work Daz. Not
sure if anyone has seen Daz drum as fast a jack hammer before, but now we
have.
Before I go any further I want to give a cherio
and massive thanks to some people who came along on our trip to watch,
help and laugh along with us - Lee & Marie and our very own Rowdy. These
guys drove all the way up just to hang with us, and help us lug our gear
all around town - we can't thank you guys enough for this and hope you all
had as good a time as us! On Wednesday and Thursday night we played on the
Steve Forde stage at the Tamworth Rodeo. The huge stage and massive sound
was unreal, we loved every second of it. Oh before I forget - we had a
surprise visitor too - our good friend Whitey flew up for one night to see
us play which was a great treat. Thanks Whitey!!!!!!! On the Wednesday we
were called up to play a show at the Longyard Hotel. A band couldn't make
it, and we got the call to fill in, and we jumped at it. It was a great
show, and a great pub right behind the golden guitar. Hope we can play
there again - those small intimate pub corners are always great fun to
play.
I have included a few 'out and about' pics from
the trip. The one of Gav trying to eat half a cow leg was quite a site to
see (or not see). Gav was up for the 'SSS' steak house 'SUPER SHANK
CHALLENGE'. Never seen the man more confident. Never seen the man fail so
dismally! Although gotta give him credit as he was fully prepared to stay
there till midnight to finish it and get his name on the Shank Challenge
wall of fame!
